Getting Ready

My facebook artist friends are holding another painting marathon. Paint as many small paintings as you can in the month of August. My paintings will be 4x4, 5x5 and 6x6 oil on cradled birch panels. The 4x4 will be posted on the daily painting page of this blog, and the others will be posted on this page. They will also be posted on Facebook and my website. Wow. That's a lot of posting. Hopefully it will result in a lot of painting too. In this pic you can see the panels I've been preparing today.

Passages, Wolfe Neck 3

Oil on cradled birch panel, 6x6 with 1.5" profile
A couple of weeks ago Pastel Painters of Maine painted at Wolfe Neck Farm in Freeport. What a great view they have. This is their view of the islands of Casco Bay. I've really gotten into painting islands this summer, the passages between the islands fascinate me. More island pics in the works, the series is called Passages. Phippsburg Maine

Last week on a gorgeous Maine day Pastel Painters of Maine went to West Point in Phippsburg. It couldn't have been a more perfect day for plein air painting. Here is one of the pieces I did there. There is a second one posted on the daily painting page.

I'll be participating at Portland Glass Blowing, 24 Romasco St., along with glass blower Ben Coombs, quilter Starr Jordan, and ceramic artist Eliza Perry. It's a fun day so come on up to the Hill and look for the balloons. A map is available at www.seaportland.org . Prizes available for frequent visitors.
